The pre-show treatment was one of the best i had! The queue moved very quickly and there was even an express lane for the girls to get in! (Sorry guys!!)
Once we were inside it was a great turnout, people of all cultures under the sea of beanie hats and gold chains we all came together to see Mr Rocky.
In my opnion they could have got a DJ or support act to make the wait less painful but overall it was worth waiting for.
From a classy white background, under a beautiful chandelier out crept the Harlem Native sending the crowd into a frenzy.
He was full of energy right from the start which made the show feel like it had been going strong for hours!
He ran through the favourites including ‘Goldie’ and did some mixtape tracks for the hardcore fans.
An 80’s baby who grew up lovin rap music and all it had to offer started rapping from an early age and with a name like Rakim (after the legend Rakim from Eric B & Rakim) it was only a matter of time before he graced a stage.
His early mixtapes with the A$AP Mob brought us ‘Purple Swag’ and ‘Peso’ but it wasn’t 2011 that we saw made A$AP Rocky was made of. The release of ‘Goldie’ saw the transition from mixtape rapper to worldwide star and it was just the beginning. After a number of international tours and several cameos, A$AP (Always Strive And Prosper) Rocky released his debut album ‘Long Live A$AP’ on Jan 13th 2013.
One of the tracks from the album and one of the highlight of the show was his performance of his hit ‘Fuckin Problems’ where, as many rappers do, he pulled some females up from the audience. However this time it was different. After 20mins of looking for girls over 21 and asking pretty girls if they got big asses over the arising boos, A$AP finally dropped the beat and the crowd went wild. No sooner than a few bars in he stopped the track and kicked the girls off the stage! I was impressed with his honesty as they were rather out of place swaying on stage when he required big butts run amok….. I hung my head in shame as London can do so much better! (He should have come to the back!!).
Was nice to see a rapper have standards however explicit they may be! Lampposts aside he rewound the track and gave us what we wanted and we had ‘bad bitch problems’ for a hot minute!!
Overall the concert had an equal hype and chill vibe to it, from the purple lighting to demands that we crowd surf and mosh i can honestly say i was NOT at an A$AP Rocky concert, i was at an A$AP Rocky Party!!!!
Just in case you don;t what what his problem with Bad Bitches is, here is a link to the answer:
