Concert Review

This concert was a mixture of amazing and confusing times to say the least. Upon arrival to the venue, there was a queue that stretched far outside onto the parade which i have never seen before! I mean i know the concert was sold out but damn! That queue could cause nightmares!
Anyhoo i made my way to the box office to collect my tickets and encountered a worrying situation. I met a pair of ladies from outside London who had traveled in for the show. They were advised to go to the box office after problems with their tickets on the doors. In the end it turned out that the tickets had been purchased by someone ‘who couldn’t attend’ and they had bought the tickets at TRIPLE face value, only to be told the tickets had been already been issued that evening.
Basically meaning that people are posing as ticket sellers online, taking payments and forwarding the e-ticket but then going to the concerts themselves early, leaving the new buyers outside bewildered, money down and no ticket……

So back to the review.
The support act : Don Money came on stage at around 9pm and at first he did a great job of warming the crowd up. I have never heard of him but he seemed to be affiliated with DJ Khaled and performed some good songs. After a while the crowd grew impatient and began booing but this was no connection to him as an artist. If you want to hear more, check out his mixtape : Weatherman2.

Just after 10pm, DJ Semtex threw down a few bangers to get up limbered up for the main artist Mr Rozay himself and soon enough he graced us with his versace’d up presence. Bursting out with ‘John’ he sure knew what he came to do: Tear Shit Dooooown! I may be biased as this is my 4th time seeing him but he never fails to deliver a good show of all dynamics.

Born William Leonard Roberts II, He came onto the rap scene with a new swag of creating a new collective called MMG, which includes the talented Philly rapper ‘Meek Mill’ and bringing an new image to HipHop. Many dislike his upfront, crime gloifying approach to the world however as many fans will know he has an essence of inspiration about him that makes you want to get up and do something with your life. (hopefully good obviously!!). In his words ‘ BE A BAWSE (BOSS)’. From his mainstream hit ‘Hustlin’ early in his career to the more recent material, he has spread his talent across 5 solo albums, 3 group albums and numerous collaborations giving him worldwide success.

With a dubious employment history, health problems and legal battles which forced him to change his moniker to ‘Ricky Rozay’, This Floridian rapper has never failed to ignite controversy. His biggest cases include a lyric which suggested a drug rape scenario led to him being dropped by Reebok and he is now reportedly being sued by a London Promoter who paid for him and his music group to play a show in London last September but failed to fly over for the show or return any of the finances. His name is always being mentioned when you mention HipHop and i’m sure it will for a long time yet.

One of the highlights of the night and a first for me as a concert lover was the surprise cameo of rapper 2Chainz. Throughout the show Ricky Rozay played songs that would get the crowd going from the likes of Rihanna, French Montana and Acehood so when he dropped the new smash ‘Feds Watching’ from 2Chainz feat Pharrell we thought it was just another song. Little did we know before we knew it we saw the tall, dread swinging statue of 2Chainz!! I must admit, i went a lil bit loca as i am a big fan!

The crowd was jam packed to capacity and security sure had their work to do as there were a few fools who thought they could push people around and etc, only to get rained on with fists and thrown out. I DO NOT ENDORSE VIOLENCE BUT PEOPLE NEED TO BEHAVE OR ELSE!!

After pushing his set to the max he ended the night with his latest single ‘No Games’ feat Future taken from his upcoming album ‘Mastermind’ due out in November 2013.

Overall i’m soooo glad i went, sometimes i ask myself why i do this even if i have seen the artist live before but tonight showed me exactly why. Music is my passion and as long as i can i will continue to enjoy it and share it with those who didn’t make it.

As always here is a little history on Ricky Rozay for ya including the surprise guest 2Chainz. xoxo

Graduation babaaaaaaay!!

graduate babay

So i have been having an emotional few weeks accepting that my life might be on a new path but i’m trusting in God to take me where i need to be cz he made my heart and knows what it wants…..

Today was actually the first day of many that i can say i was filled with pride as a result of my hard work and determination. I was one of the stereotypical students during my time at University, even though i decided to stay home, i live in London PARTY CENTRAL!!! So i was always hitting a student night (50p vodka shots and foam parties!!) and rolling into class whenever i got to many ‘absent’ emails in my inbox. I did like education but as with many students, i was not taught how to write or read effectively.

In our young days we are taught pronunciation and confidence in speech what we need to do but it seems that at University you actually had to REEEEEAD the words and take them in……. lol…… I know, sounds crazy but you would be surprised how many people struggle with this concept.

In my 3rd year i was lucky enough to spend my year abroad in the magical city of Havana, Cuba where i learnt the importance of living life to the full no matter your circumstances and dancing the night away. I did go to class out there as i wanted to improve my Spanish in immersion classes however i learnt my most valuable ‘Cubanol’ in the late evening on the Malecon with my beloved ‘Havana Club 3 anos’ Rum with refresco Limon looking at the clear bright stars singing along to the passing boomboxes or live band. (Learnt a lotta good swear words too lmao!)

It was not until my return from Cuba and the realization it was my final year that i pulled my big girl pants right up and started studying . After choosing my modules i was blessed with amazing tutors that helped me through my struggles and guided me into the place i am in today. (Latin American, Caribbean, Brazillian Portguese departments at London Metropolitan University, I THANK YOU!!) It was hard and i missed a lot of good parties but it was only on this day i realised the worth of what i had done.

I was living in Mexico this time last year so i missed my initial graduation ceremony but today i got my time to shine.

In places where women are killed for wanting to study i have managed to become another positive statistic and make my family, friends and peers super proud. I don’t know if i will continue with mainstream education but i will definitely keep on learning.

I dedicate this blog to my family, friends and the memories of some very special people in my life:

Mr A Burke a.k.a Dad

Mr H Bailey a.k.a Grandad

Mrs Merici Galvez a.k.a My Cuban Mother

Their spirits will always be part of my successes and i know you were all shining down on my today as i walked that red carpet, showing off my education.

Never give up on yourself cz we are all we have under the spotlight.

From yours truly and now……….

Miss A Bailey with a B.A. Honors in Caribbean and Spanish and Latin American Studies with a Certificate of Proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese!!!!!!!!

Swag will not fund our future…… (this is 4 us regular folk!!!)

Okay so anyone whose got a Blackberry will know what i’m on about….

Yesterday i ‘borrowed’ 2 display pictures from a friend and they said:

‘More Girls need to start searching for Guys who have Goals, Ambition and crave success because 10 years from now ‘Swag’ isn;tgoing to pay your bills’

‘Your weave may be Brazillian but your still from….. Peckham, Harlesden or wateva version you got’

Although i love swaaaaaaaag as much as the next person i can;t help wonder what the hell our future is guna b like?!?!?

I mean yeh this is directed at women but even guys r goin through hell right now cz us gurls have lost our minds…

Seemz like as soon as The Kardashians came out they created a monster n made us believe we got cameras on us mortals!! WE R NOT REALITY STARS, WE LIVE IN REAL LIFE!!

I can honestly say i have fallen victim 2 it myself, whether it be wanting to wear wet look leggings all day everyday or wearing heels wen i kno i got slippers at home we r all warped in this image that society has FAKED us into.

There are an amazing amount of real people out there men & women who r not conforming to the norm but it sad cz they r often over looked.

They guy who don’t run AC’z or shott just so he kan roll up inna rave wearing a GUCCI SCARF sweating like a sprinter or who actually understand the value of a glance n dnt wana stamp u out with the man dem are gettin as rare like an albino tigers.

I personally know a lot of good men who do what they gotta do but they were of a time where they got an education n actually know something (Y they still on road will b their wife issue, not mine!!) But somehow its filtered through and now we have a generation of 13 to 19 year old boys walkin around like flippin Wu Tang Clan using thier FREE OYSTER CARD (sort it out London… SKOOL DONE AT 4PM, LOCK DAT ISH OFF!!).

Yeh badboys r cute n etc but damn how r u guna accept the fact that wen we hit bout 30 we r guna b goin on dates before 7pm cz hes on Tag or we gotta avoid certain areas cz the man you love got beef out of ends n all u wana do is go West End without gettin moved to by a herd?!?!?

These r the lost souls that society has created and it about time we stop critisicin these young men n start making them wana go 2 university even though they wud have a better income off road considerin da loan bullshit n making them see that a gucci scarf won’t keep your family warm wen ur all 35 n still on road….

Time to make as change…

Now to the beautiful females…..

We all wana b rescued at some point but ladies dat time has long gone. A new evil has entered our lives at that is ATTENTION SEEKING…..

I can’t tell you the last time i heard a young girl aspire to be more than her bottom… Itz not a bad thing to wana b curvy or anything but dammit U R MORE THAN UR BATTY!!

Wear a wear, get a fake tan but just remember at some point your guna have 2 see yourself n you shudnt neglect your true beauty just 2 pay for someone else’s. 1 thing i will say that beauty is a business so if you find youself wonder where your baby hairs or hairline is goin or y ur nailz r like greaseproof paper, i beg you don’t run back to the same people causing you the problem, THEY WANT YOU TO KEEP COMIN BACK!!!

Just cz dat hottie from dat rave loves you off cz u kno wa gwan doesn’t mean he will love you when he flips u back over…. (sorry 2 b harsh!)

First impression mean everything n yes b sexy but please please please don;t forget that looks fade and eventually you will have a child of your own and you don;t want to have to tell them you stuffed you jeans or bullshit like that.

WE R ALL ATTRACTIVE IN OUR OWN WAYS….. Maybe some gotta dig reeeeal hard 2 find it but we r!!

Make guys know that respondin 2 a sound is not acceptable, you are someone’s daughter, niece, grandaughter, maybe even mother and you need 2 demand your respect from jump.

Ent nothing wrong with making mistakes, its life but when you wake up n see the world for what it is don’t be the girl who he points to the night bus stop. Im not sayin marry him straight up but at least let him drop u some cab fare or summink….. lmao

I guess all i’m tryna say is look as good as you can for the person you see in the mirror cz i guarantee you our future is not guna b easy so start by loving yourself….. (Trey Songz or Nicki Minaj ent comin 4 none us so we need 2 wake up real quick….)

P.S. Some food for thought for even myself….. We might wana actually calm down on the tattoos (I got 9.. lol) cz i was thinkin the other day what if when god blesses me with children one day they come home from school all scribbled up like a back street saying they wana b like mommy and daddy (When i somehow find ma Mr)…

We gotta lead by example n yeh they r sentimental n have meaning but people please remember Wiz Khalifa already has his money stacked 4 him n his family….
